Shayna Petit recently defended her Master’s Thesis Farmer Participation in Farmer-Led Watershed Groups: A Case Study in the Western Lake Erie Basin. Her research examined why farmers joined and continued to participate in a farmer-led watershed organization in southeastern Michigan. Petit was a graduate student at the Institute from 2014-2016. She was a major asset for IWR, working on various projects including the Great Lakes Clean Communities Network. She significantly enhanced IWR’s social media presence, and through a summer internship at the State Capitol, helped introduce legislation that would exempt staff gauges from permitting to facilitate new CrowdHydrology sites in Michigan. We wish Shayna the best after graduation and look forward to seeing where life takes her.
