The Sensitive Areas Identification System (SAIS), launched in August 2016, was included in the 2016 State of the Great Lakes Report prepared by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Office of the Great Lakes. The report highlights noteworthy events of 2016, such as the release of the Michigan Water Strategy and the approval of new phosphorus reduction targets for Lake Erie. Stories from the around the Great Lakes – on culture, resource management, innovation, research, and recreation are also featured.
